Over two years, members played an important role in shaping our new Constitution. Following extensive engagement and discussion, the formal consultation process with Ordinary financial (voting) Members began on 8 September 2025 and remained open for eight weeks, closing on 2 November 2025.

During this time, members had opportunities to provide feedback in a variety of ways, including through a dedicated kōrero held during the 2025 AGM and Conference. All feedback received was carefully considered by the Board at its November 2025 Meeting. As a result of members’ input, two further changes were made to the proposed Constitution. These amendments removed the President’s right to have a casting vote at Board Meetings, and removed the requirement for candidates standing for election to the Board to have been financial for a cumulative period of 24 months during five consecutive years.

The final version of the Constitution was presented at a Special Meeting of Members held via Zoom on Tuesday, 9 December. Ordinary financial (voting) Members voted unanimously to adopt the new Constitution. This meets all requirements of the Incorporated Society Act 2022 and has been successfully registered with the Incorporated Societies.
