Be part of our online voting pilot
Although there is no election this year, Blind Citizens NZ continues to explore how we can ensure that voting in our organisational elections is more accessible for everyone. A planned activity is to coordinate a pretend | practice, online election. We already know the system works well for confident blind tech users. We need to hear from financial (voting) members who may not often engage with online systems, or who just do not feel comfortable using them.
If this sounds like you, or if you’ve ever thought, “I’m not very techy”, then we’d love you to take part.
We still need volunteers to make up preferred numbers of around 20 people being involved. You’ll be part of a simple, safe, fake election designed only for testing. There are no real candidates, no real political issues, and no impact on any official organisational processes. We’ll be asking you to tell us what worked and what didn’t.
Your feedback will help shape a more accessible voting experience for our members.
If we already have your expression of interest, you are on our list and you don’t need to do anything else. Otherwise, to be considered, please provide your expression of interest by 9am, Wednesday, 14 October 2026, using one of the following options:
- Email: admin@blindcitizensnz.org.nz
(put volunteer online voting in the subject line); or - Phone: 0800 222 694
