From Rose Wilkinson, Returning Officer

Although the AGM and Conference is where the official announcement is made about the election outcome, it seems timely to share this important information in this Focus Issue.

Nominations for the two Board Member positions for this year’s election closed at 4pm on Friday 21 August 2026.

At the close of nominations, only one nomination was received. Paula Waby, who is currently serving on the Board, was the sole nominee and is therefore re-elected unopposed to one of the two available Board Member positions. Paula’s new three-year term will commence at the conclusion of this year’s AGM and Conference.

Congratulations to Paula on her re-election.

As only one of the two Board Member positions has been filled, the remaining position is considered to be a vacancy. This vacancy will remain until the next annual election. This means that at the 2027 election, there will be three Board Member positions available:

  • Two Board Member positions whose current terms expire in 2027.
  • One Board Member position arising from the vacancy created in this year’s election.

Provided there are sufficient nominations, the candidates elected to the two positions becoming vacant in 2027 will each serve a full three-year term. The candidate elected to fill the vacancy from this year’s election will serve a two-year term, completing the balance of the original three-year term.

For reference, Rule 14.2.8 applies where an elected Board Member position remains unfilled following an election.
